INTEGRA   and Legend were offered by Acura to compete in the US luxury car market in 1986. Manufactured for two decades, Integra has won first-in-class awards. From 1987 through 1995 Americans purchased over 50,000 a year. In 1990 more than 80,000 were sold. The story of Civic and Integra can best be described as a conflation of timing and a quality product. Introduced in the early seventies, the Civic delivered reliability and fuel-efficiency during a period of gas shortages, inflation and high unemployment. By the early 1980s the disastrous economy of the 1970s was coming to an end. The US was beginning a period of economic growth and prosperity. Loyal Honda owners with discretionary income wanted reliable transportation and luxury. They did not want to turn to Cadillac or Mercedes. Using Civic as its foundation, Integra offered the best of both worlds; Honda’s proven reliability and Acura’s luxury. After Acura adopted alphabetic naming, the fourth generation Integra (2001-2006) was renamed RSX.

From (1984-1999) Integra had a non-transponder keyed ignition.  From (2000-2001) Integra had Honda Type 2A Keyed Ignition Systems. Integra was among the first cars in the US to use anti-theft transponder technology. The transponder key used  (Ilco part number HD106-PT). It was embedded with the Megamos (13) Fixed Code chip.  The service key was (Ilco part number HD103). Additional keys can be programmed for the 2000-2001 Integra with a diagnostic or cloning tool. When a diagnostic tool is used all existing keys must be present during the programming procedure. Working keys not present will be erased from memory and will not start the vehicle after the programming procedure. A standard key machine can be used to cut all Acura Integra keys. The key code series is 3001-8442.
